Why are plants endangered? They are mainly endangered because of human actions. Habitat loss, development, agriculture, invasive species (both plants and animals) and even forces like feral hogs destroy the places where plants live. Many plant species are adapted to a particular environment, and cannot live in other conditions. Fire-adapted species, for example, rely on periodic fires to clear out undergrowth and awaken their seeds. Without fires (unpopular with human homeowners), these plants don’t grow.
